Crab legs need serious seasoning, they seemed just boiled in plain water. Everything else was pretty good. The food seemed to be fresh from the kitchen and they were on point in replacing empty trays. Ambiance was a bit louder than I would have liked but ok. This is not a fancy place but a good place to eat well for the money. Although, the silverware could be replaced for some that are not so flimsy and the bathrooms need som serious TLC.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would."World" Buffet? It was mostly Asian food, with a few spurts of American food randomly tossed in. The food was bland and tasteless, and I was incredibly unimpressed. The worst thing about this place? FOOD POISONING. I was up all night puking my guts out. Even my boyfriend had an upset stomach from the disgusting food.At least the server was nice. He cleaned up our dirty dishes and refilled our drinks.Overall, I would NEVER come back again. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.

When they first opened long time ago, it was great. Then for a while it kept its quality. I remember coming here for lunch buffet everytime I am in West Covina.Lately, I don't know if they changed owners, started cutting back, or something, but quality just took a nose dive.I remember (this was about 5 years ago), I was stocking up on some sushi and the lady behind the sushi counter yelled at me in Chinese. I am Asian but I am not Chinese so I didn't know what she was saying. However, I think (not sure) she yelled at me for taking four pieces of masago sushi at a time. If that was the case, I don't understand why it was a problem. After all, it is a buffet!

World Buffet accomodated our large group and we were seated in a separate room that can fit about 100 people. The service is average, they picked up all the plates timely but did not refill our drinks. This place has your typical asian buffet selection and the quality and freshness is just OK. The best thing to get here is the mongolian bbq because you can add better ingredients like beef and shrimp.

3.5 STARS!Gained 0.5 stars for their kindness and ability to deal with our large group without being rude.KUDOS to the World Buffet. They have a separate section for small banquet parties (not closed off though). Imagine a group of hungry, loud and rambunctious adults/kids stampeding into the restaurant. That's us! Staff was calm and collected! They identified us by tagging each w/ a green circle sticker. Then OFF we went to the stuff our face.KID FRIENDLY!!! Kids were running a muck around the buffet. We tried to control the kids - but grateful they didn't have a COW.MSG rating: 2.5 - what do you expect? It's Quantity over Quality BABY :)WIDE selection of food: ORGANIZED and CLEAN.**Here are some key items***SALAD BAR- kim chee!SEAFOOD BAR: Get the soft shell crabs! They also had mussels, clams, salmon. Not bad - actually pretty fresh. Not dried out or scrawny looking.CHINESE BAR: chow mein, pancit, broccoli beef, orange chicken, spicy chicken, ribs, potstickers. Well made - not too oily. A bit too salty (aka: MSG).SUSHI BAR - mainly California rolls, spicy cali rolls (which were SO good to me), raw salmon. My rule is NOT to eat raw stuff at a buffet. Not sure how long it's been sitting there.MONGOLIAN BBQ GRILL - VERY GOOD! Large enough selection of meats (pork, beef, chicken, shrimp) and veggies (onions, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, carrots........) and noodles. Plus your choice of marinate/seasoning and GARLIC. They make it for you and it's hot/fresh and YUMMY. NOTE: do not put too much marinate. It's quite salty.FRUIT BAR: oranges, canned peaches, honey dew, cantaloupe, grapes, SHAVED ice. TIP: make yourself a shaved ice combination that they sell for $5 outside.Grab a bowl.....vanilla ice cream on bottom, shaved ice on top, pour your choice of syrup (careful - one of them taste like cough syrup)....then CONDENSED MILK. OMG - it's a perfect blend of flavors in your mouth.DESSERT BAR: cream puffs, mini cakes and the ice cream (vanilla, chocolate or swirl).SERVICE: drinks are included. Staff was a bit aloof, but nice. They didn't say much. Brought us our drinks and took our plates. They were nice enough to allow us to stay for 3 hours to accomodate for some people that were running late. SWEET.PRICE: We were guests (aka: free lunch!) - unsure how much it is for banquet size. Maybe cheaper :)

We were here on Sunday lunch. The price is about $14 per person. Kid is about $8.The food looks nicer than it tastes. It is freshly cooked but the materials weren't fresh and maybe that's why the taste wasn't that great. I was there for about an hour and then, all of a sudden, crab legs came out. Then, it was gone for just about less than one minute if you happen to be lingering around the little area where the crab legs were poured into the "old" water it was sitting. So, I got pretty frustrated as the guy next to my table got seven legs and another lady got four. That's it!? No more. Finally, I asked the so called "owner". He appeared to be smiling and I addressed to him the kinda a complaint that why the crab legs weren't out throughout the time I was eating but then, when it was finally served, it wasn't enough for more than two people. So, he said, "oh, we tried to serve every five minutes." Totally a lie. I waited again, perhaps he told the kitchen to bring just a few more, so, I can get some. Well, dah, I did get three, but this time, the legs appeared to be very skinny and didn't taste that well. When he passed by my desk, he said, "oh, you got it, right?" Ya, but, doesn't taste good~ (I was speaking to my self inside.) My thing is, if you promote, "crab legs", then, serve them with enough quantities!! Don't hide them. If you don't want to serve this item, don't, and don't promote it at all. By promoting it, but not giving to the customers is a "bait and swtich" act.

I really don't know why my mom doesn't like eating here. She just does not like this buffet. (Hat tip to all the negative reviewers out there. My mom supports you!) It's kinda funny actually. Sometimes when she asks where we're going to eat, I say "World Buffet!" and she goes "Ew!" LOL.I personally think the difference is negligible between World Buffet and Grand Buffet just down the street. Actually, World Buffet seems to serve more seafood (salmon, saba, shrimp, etc) which I like and would recommend and which would make it my choice over Grand Buffet, but there are some negatives...* I like the idea of their little Korean BBQ corner, but it seems under-utilized. I don't see many people walk to that little corner of the buffet.* Their sushi is just like other surrounded by a ton of rice. They do offer little slivers of sashimi to offset that I guess. The rice balls (aka "sushi" served in asian buffets) are a pet peeve of mine.* That they have a to-go option is commendable, but at it's price why even bother. For to go orders, you pack a styrofoam box from the buffet and have it weighed to calculate it's price. No thanks. I'd rather go to Whole Foods if I wanted to do that. And what makes it more ludicrous is that Grand Buffet charges you one rate (the buffet rate) for the exact same to go box from it's buffet. So not a bad buffet, but has it's drawbacks. My mom won't come here, but maybe you should try it out if you like seafood.

they give you funny looks after you've been there longer than 30 minutes. they charge extra fees after we ate."You've been here 2 hour!"UPDATE: I got a message of apology from "the owner", which is very appreciated. (1 star added)Not sure we would go back to this place though. It's already awkward. Not unless they would sponsor free food to a group of 20 people. Even then, there's that possibility of "us not trusting the food" for obvious reasons. So the damage has been done and it's in human nature for people to remember the negative things about a business a lot more.Let that be a lesson learned for your company and your employees. When you are in the food service industry, it is CRUCIAL that you always treat your customers good. If your employees show any kind of rudeness, fire them right away. There's plenty of people out there who'd be glad to have a job.And if your employees are not happy, maybe it's the managers' fault for being rude to your employees. Fire your managers.Or maybe you (the owners), are not treating your employees good (and not paying them well) In that case, you may lose employees."Happy Employees, Happy Customers."

I purchased an Amazon Local (similar to Groupon and Living Social) deal for World Buffet before coming to this restaurant. This is my first time going here even though this restaurant had many mediocre and bad reviews. I purchased the buffet dinner dinner for two for $14 (value at $28) . I came at 3 pm on a Saturday and the person in front said that dinner and lunch was the same price on the weekends. The food I ate was great and warm and wasn't fresh, as some reviewed. My friend wanted to eat soup and when he couldn't find a bowl, he HAD TO ask one of the waiters. A customer from the table next to us asked the waitress whether the restaurant offered crab legs. She said yes. She brought some over to their table without having tell them that someone brought it out. The man said something like, "You weren't going to bring any crabs out if I didn't ask, right"? and the waitress said no. According to previous reviews, that's always the case...to ask then receive. All the food during our meal was filled/full except for the crab legs. I really enjoyed the mini octopus, spicy kim-chi and seaweed, .not so much for the sushi rolls or the non-spicy crawfish or mini clams. My friend liked his meal too, except for the dried salmon. He said that the food here was also great and warm. It wasn't fresh, but some were overcooked. The original pictures of this restaurant on yelp made me think it was an advertisement ploy.At the end of the meal, my friend and I received a bill that said $30.20 minus $28 = $2.50. That couldn't be right. I thought I did pay for it online. I paid the $2.50 and as a courtesy paid $3 in tips. I wouldn't go here again.

This is the worst buffet I've been to. First of all my wife went to the restroom and she had to look at shits all over the floor and the seat and seem like no one has clean the restroom all day. They were being really cheap with crab legs. I was there for little over hour and had no crab legs. Finally we had to go complaint then some lady only brings out small bowl and pours into old pan with water in it. The lady brought out enough for maybe 2 or 3 person only. Also the kid on the picture holding a large crab legs from "Yelp" must be the owners daughter because crab legs were not even half of the size the that kid was holding .And forget about eating sushi over there. They only had rolls because rolls are really cheap to make.Over all place was dirty including restroom and food was not worth the money we paid for. We will never go back to this place.

This Chinese buffet is alright. Its close to where my boyfriend and I live, so we come here occasionally for the variety and no wait to eat. The food is decently tasty and made fresh. But do NOT get the shaved ice here, it is nasty tasting. If you want shaved ice go across the parking lot to Rich's Shrimp Shack and get yummy shaved ice if you want some after a buffet. The desserts could be better, but I end up just getting some iced milk to end my meal. The price is ok for what they have to offer.

As far as Asian buffets go, this is your run-of-the mill buffet.Weekday dinner is $13.88 and weekday lunch is just under $8. I believe weekend prices are around $16.Heads up - there's currently a coupon on their website at http://www.worldbuffet.n… that gives you $1 off lunch, $2 off weekday dinner, and $3 off weekend lunch & dinner. I just used it last night. In retrospect, I just noticed the coupon says "Senior discount 65 years plus" but I was able to use it, so give it a shot. Physical coupon needed per person. They do seem to stop replenishing dishes around 8:30 pm or so, and some of the food look like they've been there for awhile - this might only be an issue on weekdays when it's not as crowded, though.2 stars for serving crawfish (flavor was okay), and some sushi. I probably wouldn't come back, Fujin Ramen a few doors down is much more yummylicious - too bad it was closed yesterday =(

This is my first time yelping. I felt like I had to do it cause honestly, this place gave me diarrhea. I know it's gross saying that but it should give you an idea of what the food is like. The only reason I came here was because Golden Corral's line was way too long. Business seemed pretty slow here for a Friday night. My parents and I walked in and the waiter seemed really bored and didn't even greet us. The raw salmon at their sushi bar was a weird peach color and some pieces still had skin on it. You would have to be down syndromed as f*** to want to eat that (like myself, apparently -____-"). The only thing I ate that I thought was safe was the garlic button mushrooms that they have at all of the other Asian buffets. Everything else was overcooked, unseasoned or just not fresh. Now that I think of it, maybe it was the garlic button mushrooms that gave me diarrhea.... hmm...Anyway, one star for the waiter cause he looked like an anorexic Milo Ventimiglia.

OH LORD. The crab and shrimp had a sour aftertaste and they hardly brought out ANY new food until every ounce of the old food was gone. For 2 people, the price was $30.00. Definitely not worth the price whatsoever. They only brought out about 10 crab legs which were gone instantly and they refused to bring out more. If I could, I would beg everyone walking in to please not make the same mistake I did by giving this buffet a chance. GO BACK WHILE YOU CAN!!! Never again.
